From high-wires to high-impact companies: Meet our new COO

From high-wires to high-impact companies: Meet our new COO

It’s not often you get to introduce a new exec to the team. Meet Emma.

Emma, tell our readers a bit about yourself…

Hello I’m Emma. I’ve been working in senior operations roles within tech companies for approaching 10 years. Before that I worked in the subsidised arts sector, managing international circus touring companies, beginning my career by moving between financial services, recruitment, and database systems.

I’ve lived in Hackney for 22 years, now with my husband, 2 kids and our 2 little rescue cats.

What brought you to CPR?

I love solving problems. Working out how to make a truly exciting idea a reality. I’ve moved around tech - from medical solutions or quantum computing, through to international humanitarian relief. The through-line across all of these seemingly disparate, high-impact companies is their ideas - all ambitious solutions for solving real-world problems. I love being able to actualise that.

Sure you’ve just started, but what does a day in the life of a COO look like?

Basically really varied. My role covers people, finance, legal, commercial, all the things that are needed to help a team work. One day might be spent reviewing legal docs, or helping improve how we share information with each other, the next I might be focussed purely on financial processing and strategy.

What can we find you doing on Fridays?

Knitting. I’m currently working on becoming a certified master knitter! If I’m not knitting I’m in the sauna.
